PROPERTY ASSESSMENT - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
TAXES - WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
All property in a municipality is assessable, regardless of whether there are structures on a lot or not. "Property" means land or improvements or both. "Land" refers to the legally surveyed parcel of ground to which an owner has title. "Improvements" refers to buildings or structures on the land.
Property assessment is the process of determining a property's assessed value as of a specific date for tax purposes. This is not the same as property taxes. Municipalities use the property assessment as per SAMA's (Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency) annual maintenance reports to set property tax amounts for property owners.icipalities
The purpose of property assessment is to establish an assessed value for every property in a municipality which, in turn, allows the municipality to gauge, for budget and tax purposes, the annual tax levy.
